It can be a new process architecture, design methodology, or technology

this year’s editors’ choice, a new motor design.
Overcoming the high cost of traveling wave motors and bringing such devices
to the masses, was the ambition of a small Danish company.

Get up to 100,000 steps per revolution for a 30mm PCBMotor.
The very high resolution is achived when the motor is in pusled (PWM) in micro steps down to 0.1msec width each. The motor is operating at a frequency of 40kHz and we need a least a few cycles of 25usec (40kHz) per micro step, hence the limit of 100usec. Read more here...

PCBMotor is a patented new motor technology that enables a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) with SMD mounted Piezo components to resonate and generate rotary movement. In other words, you can design your own motor right on your PCB.

PCBMotor can design the exact stator to meet your requirements for torque, speed, size and lifetime. We work closely with our customers to ensure the motor fits the application. Our goal is to provide a solution that delivers the required performance at a cost that ensures a profitable business model for both parties.

Modular construction using discrete actuators is a key element in our business plan. This enables us to drive down manufacturing costs by aggregating volumes generated from multiple customers and applications.

PCBMotor operates as a component supplier, delivering stator and driver circuits for low volume and Piezo components for higher volume. Our application support is available for design and supply (if needed) of electronic control as well as the rotor and other parts needed to fit the motor to your application.


Cost is one of our key considerations in ensuring a successful design. Our modular concept, combined with a freedom in design of moving parts, enables us to minimize the bill of material. The motor can be much more closely integrated into your application than a conventional device.

And the unique form factor - where motor, gear and clutch comes in a flat, circular space only a few mm’s thick - allows you to build movement into your products in a new way, at a cost targeted for low to high volume applications.

Many customers will like to keep the development data of their application by themselves, and therefore PCBMotor offer a simple design package, enabling you to design PCBMotor by your self.

An Evaluation Kit can be easily altered to fit your purposes and it is ready-to-use with stator, rotor, driver and power supply. Use it to mock-up your application with a PCBMotor.

Our lab Test Kit contains a stator, rotor and driver. You just supply the driver with 5V DC. You'll also get free control software with the features for start, stop and direction.

The Lab Kit includes extensive software features such as the frequency tracker option, settings for frequency, sweep and tracking and advanced drive schedule options for start, stop, direction, and pause.

The Design Starter Kit takes you directly to designing your own PCBMotor with a comprehensive set of guidelines. These will fast track your development process and help you avoid the most common pitfalls.

Finally, our All-In-One package bundles the Lab Kit, 3-5 standard stators of yours choice. Plus you'll receive one 30-minute Consulting Assesments, valued at €100. We're confident you'll be satisfied.
